Udupi: Pernankila V A Harish N P caught red-handed by Lokayukta while taking bribe

Udupi, Dec 20: Pernankila village accountant Harish N P was caught red-handed by Lokayukta while receiving a bribe. He had demanded Rs 10,000 for converting a land to Sakrama. The victim had complained about it to Udupi Lokayukta police station.

Lokayukta caught him while the complainant was handing over the cash to the village accountant.

Udupi Lokayukta police have arrested Harish N P and recovered the amount of bribe.

    Why does Yokayukta become toothless when it comes to MPs, MLAs and ministers? Only small, ordinary government employees are caught just for publicity.

    Village accountant looks like a robber. He is just a member of the cartel and may be getting only 1 or 2 thousands out of this loot. balance goes to the ring leaders.

    Good job, Lokayukta. Little shrimps are easily caught, but the big fish escape your net. You do have to show your effectiveness in targeting corruption wherever you can easily find it.

    These are small fries. Someone traps this unfortunate guy and he is caught and may be, that is the end of his career. I do not condone his corrupt practice and he deserves to be punished. But, what about the big sharks that sit in the top offices, what about ministers, what about the chiefs in the secretariat and the likes of Eshwarappa and Seetee Ravi and all those who handle the 40% moolah? Bring them to justice first, then only the society can breathe easy.
