Udupi: Police arrest accused who stole valuables worth Rs 3.48 lac

Udupi, Dec 21: Udupi station police have arrested Sadik Ulla (35), a resident of Shivamogga on charges of stealing gold and valuables from the house of Vaishnavi Acharya, a resident of Kunjibettu.

Sadik Ulla is accused of stealing gold and other valuables from Vaishnavi Acharya's house between 10 pm on December 11 and 9 am on December 12. It is learnt that the accused entered the house from the back door when the people of the house were away. He then broke open the almirah in the house and stole a diamond ring kept in the locker, gold Jumki weighing 20 grams, gold coin weighing eight grams, silver plates and gold plated ornaments together valued at worth Rs 3.48 lacs.

 

A case in this connection was registered at Udupi city police station under crime registration No. 183/22, section 454, 457 and 380 of the IPC.

The station staff assigned the duty of nabbing the accused arrested Sadik Ulla near the KSRTC bus stand on December 19, 2022.

The police confiscated stolen items including diamond ring, jewellery, silver, silver ornaments and gold plated jewellery together worth Rs 4,35,325 kept by the accused in his residence.

Sadik has been produced in the court and remanded to judicial custody for 14 days. The arrest was made under the leadership of Udupi police station SI Manjappa D R by police sub-inspector Mahesh T M, Vasappa Naik, staff Sathish Belle, Ananda S, Riaz Ahmed, Vishwanath Shetty, Kiran K, Shivakumar, technical department staff Dinesh and Nithin Kumar under directions and guidance from their senior officers.

    Sadik from Shimoga how he know house has back door & owners will be away. Why cops didnt give aeroplane treatment and gather info on informers who keep eye on all houses in city & arrest them too

    These robbers are given information by a person who knows the house owners very well. Front they are still good with the owners.....this is called back stabbing.
