Kasargod, Jan 9: The death case of Anjushree, student of Manjeshwar Govind Pai memorial college, has got a twist. The police are suspecting that Anjushree killed herself. They have confiscated the mobile phone and the letter said to be written by the deceased.

Earlier, it was said that the girl died because of food poisoning. However, the preliminary post mortem report said that the death did not occur due to food poisoning. Hence, the police started investigating in a different angle. The report also said that poison was found in her body. The doctor who did the post mortem also gave a clue that the deceased had consumed poison in addition to stalling of the functioning of the intestine and jaundice. The internal organs are sent to forensic test. Only after the forensic report arrives, a clear picture will emerge.

Anjushree and her family had procured food through Kuzhimandi online service on December 31. Anjushree had fallen ill on the same day night and was treated in a nearby hospital. After five days, her condition turned critical and was taken to private hospital in Mangaluru. She died on January 7. The trade licence of the hotel from where the food was ordered was cancelled by the food safety officers and a case was registered.

It is said that Anjushree has written that she is killing herself due to mental pressure in the letter that was found at her home. However, due to the sensitivity of investigation, the police have not divulged other details.

Kasargod: 'Food-poisoning death' – Girl died due to intestine failure, says post-mortem report

Daijiworld Media Network – Kasargod (MS)

Kasargod, Jan 9: The preliminary report of post-mortem of Anjushree (19), daughter of Ambika and student of Manjeshwar Govind Pai memorial government college, said that food poisoning is not the reason for her death. The report says that intestine stopped working and she was affected by jaundice also. For more investigation her internal parts are sent for chemical examination.

At the same time, the report also says that poison was found in the body of Anjushree. However, according to the opinion of the forensic surgeon, the poison is not of food. The report says that the poison stopped the intestine from functioning.

Anjushree had died in a hospital in Mangaluru on Saturday, January 7 morning. She and her family members fell sick after consuming food that was ordered from a hotel on December 31. It was suspected that Anjushree died of food poisoning. Police had arrested three people including the owner of the hotel.

In the meantime, 13 students and teacher of Pattanamthitta Chandanapalli Rose Dale School were admitted to hospital for food poisoning. They had consumed Chicken biriyani, which was served on account of school day. The hotel owner said that the school distributed the biriyani that was delivered at 11 am to the students in the evening. All students and teacher who ate the biriyani did not show any signs of illness on the same day. They all fell sick on the following day. They are admitted to three different hospitals in Pattanamthitta.

Poor owner? He lost a hotel? There is a young woman who lost her life and many others who got sick because of him. He was responsible for food safety, he failed because of his own doing or someone else's, but food safety was still his responsibility. He deserves to loose his hotel and never serve food again to anyone.

Overall, connecting the dots, to me, it appears everybody's food was poisoned, but not to that extent that it could kill them, but only her!!

This seems to be a complex case; since all those who ate food fell sick and recovered, but only she succumbed makes it a more murkier case? Was it that all were poisoned? Normally a paralytic ileus occurs due to botilinum food poisoning, but it's very very rare; in other cases, it gets okay on its own or with medications!! If the girl has indeed consumed poison, then the hotel owner had to bear the brunt of the people and authorities for no mistake of his! The above is my personal opinion only!!

What kind of food safety officer's I don't know. How they can cancel the license before police report arrives. If investigation not done thorowly means online food supplier will be behind bars.

If it's proven that if it was not food poisoning then the hotel owner can sue the agencies which hurriedly cancelled their license!!

It is very tragic incident. May her soul rest in eternal peace. It sounds strange and confusing. Not questioning preliminary report of post-mortem. " Intestine stopped functioning, death not because of food poison". Question here all family members too fell sick after consuming the same food but recovered ( 7th Jan report). May be the food itself is main reason and associated to malfunction of intestine and other complication. I'm not a doctor, but circumstances made me to think otherwise. Hope chemical report of internal parts may put more light.

Victim googled about rat poison days before. So its not far-fetched to see family sick from food too.
