Udupi: Two arrested for trying to sell drugs, goods worth lacs seized

Udupi, Jan 17: Police have arrested two accused persons who were trying to sell ganja.

The accused, identified as Raghavendra Devadiga and Jagadish Poojary, were arrested after obtaining definite information that they were trying to sell ganja and Methamphetamine drugs at the auto stand near Udupi town hall.

The police seized 1.176 kilo of ganja, 10 grams of Methamphetamine, a scooter without a number plate, two mobile phone handsets, a weighing machine and 17 plastic covers used to pack the powder from them.

The seized Methamphetamine drug was valued at Rs 45,000 while the cost of recovered ganja was put at Rs 28,000. The scooter is valued at Rs 80,000 and two mobile phone handsets are valued at Rs 55,000. The weighing machine is worth Rs 1,000. The total value of the seized goods is Rs 2,09,000.

A case in this connection has been registered at Udupi CEN crime police station.
