Gujarat Slams Kerosene Quota Cut

Gandhinagar, Jun 2 (IANS): The Gujarat government Wednesday protested against the central government's decision to reduce its kerosene quota for distribution through the public distribution system (PDS) by a whopping 32.19 percent.

The quota for supplying kerosene to states for distribution through fair price shops under the PDS is decided by the central government.

The state government ministers - spokespersons Jay Narayan Vyas and Saurabh Patel - said this was for the third time in two years that the central government had cut Gujarat's quota.

The kerosene quota was reduced in some other states too. In Rajasthan, it was cut by 0.03 percent, in Uttar Pradesh by 0.08 percent and in Haryana by 10.64 percent.
