Mangaluru, Jan 20: Question papers for the preparatory and I PUC final examinations will be readied at the district-level itself this year. As students will have to choose among the multiple choices to answer questions in the exams, the new arrangement is likely to be suitable for students.

In the previous years, the question papers for PUC exams were set by the Department of Pre-University Education in the central office and then transported to all the districts. But, this year the question papers will be set by a panel constituted at the district-level by the deputy directors of the PU board which will reach the students writing the examinations. Preparations are underway to set the question papers at the district-level.

A new model question paper with multiple choice answers is being set for the students of I PUC starting this year. This step is intended to help students crack the II PUC exams easily as the question paper format will be similar. The new format will be followed for I PUC preparatory exams as well.

In Dakshina Kannada district, II PUC preparatory exams will be held from Jan 23 to Feb 4 and during the same period preparatory exams for I PUC students will also be held. The final exams for I PUC students will be held from Feb 20 to March 2.

The question papers for the I PUC preparatory, practical and final exams along with the II PUC preparatory examinations will be set at the district-level. Earlier, the question papers used to get printed at the district-level after they were set by the department. This practice was seen as a step to help the experts team at the district level to set the question papers. This year, the question papers will be set by the experts at the district-level and then sent to the deputy director's committee for approval and thereafter will be dispatched to all the PU colleges in the districts.

In Dakshina Kannada district, a committee has been constituted for the purpose, according to deputy director Jayanna.
