Dubai: Belman Parishioners Celebrate Annual Fest

Dubai, Jun 4: All Belman Parishoners here, recently congregated together in Al Mas Hotel to celebrate the feast of their patron, St Joseph. The event commenced with the prayer led by Shanti D'Silva and group. The president of St Josephs Bethkati Belman Dubai, Walter Monteiro, welcomed all the Belman Parishoners and their guests to the annual event.
Ivan D'Souza was the master of ceremony for the evening who kept the crowd entertained with his witty commentary and many spot prizes.
The entertainment was led by Cema and Inish who sang a duet song. Cema also danced to the tulu song Ekka Sakka from Koti Chennaya which got the crowd very sentimental. SaIma and Inish also performed a duet dance which was followed by a music session by Velroy, Inish & Ishan. Their parents should be thanked for encouraging them and taking the time and effort to ensure that the programme was a success.
There were many games for the children as well as elders. They played the "Bombing the cities" and "Gloria Says" which got the tiny toddlers and their parents to participate and run around. There was game for couples for the lady who poked the maximum number of toothpicks into a Banana.
Senora D'Mello, daughter of Raymond and Shanti D'Mello from Belman, was feliciatated for scoring 97.6 percent in the science stream in XII CBSC exam and emerging second in entire UAE. Senora is also a karate Black Belt holder and good dancer who has performed in most of the previous Bethkati Belman functions.
There was also a felicitation for Joel D'souza, Son of John D'souza couple, for winning the first place in the inter-school swimming competition in Dubai this year.
The committee honoured the sponsors and expressed their gratitude for their constant support.The sponsors were Raymond D'Mello, Vincent D'Mello, John D'Souza, Ronald Fernandes, Ivan Menezes, Valerian Mathias, Clyed Monteiro, Robert Aranha and Vincent.
Walter Nandalike of Daijiworld.com, who is also from Belman, shared his experience of the Belman fest in few words.
This was followed by the mouth-watering Mangalorean feast spread out for all. The turnout of this event was far more than expected. It gave an opportunity for old neighbours, friends and classmates from Belman to re-unite and catch up.
The foot-tapping and hip-shaking music was played by Anil Cardoza which got the crowd on to the dance floor and enticed them to stay way past the alloted time.
The function concluded with the vote of thanks by Louie, the committee secretary.
