Mangaluru: 74th Republic Day celebrated at Ladyhill Victoria High school

Mangaluru, Jan 27: The Republic day celebration programme commenced with a prayer song. The chief guest for the day was Meera Suresh Pandith, commissioner of commercial tax. The chief guest along with the headmistress of the Ladyhill campus unfurled the National Flag. As the Tricolour fluttered high in the air, the National Anthem was sung.

This was followed by a cultural programme fromthe students of class 8 which began with a prayer service. Chief guest was welcomed by Anam Aliya. Students danced to the patriotic song with the rhythmic steps. An inspiring skit was enacted which depicted the life of Father of Constitution, Dr B R Ambedkar. Students also enacted on the life of soldiers which sent a wave of patriotism among the audience.

Rianna Dhrithi Fernandes of class 8, a national level swimmer was felicitated on this occasion for her record breaking performance in 200 mts breast stroke and in 100 mt medley relay for which she had won gold medal. She won silver in 50 mts breast stroke and silver in 100 mts breast stroke at 33rd South Zone Aquatic Championship 2022- Thiruvananthapuram. Students were awarded with the merit certificates for their excellence in academics, extracurricular activities and sports.

Chief guest, in her motivational speech, enlightened the gathering not only to exercise ther fundamental rights but also stressed the importance of fundamental duties towards one another and to the entire nation. She also encouraged the students to become outstanding individuals and rise to great heights.

The vote of thanks was proposed by Aapti and Sapnaz. Disha and Liza compered the programme.
