Bantwal: Complaint filed against person who made Arasolige road work video viral on social media

Daijiworld Media Network – Bantwal (MS)

Bantwal, Feb 11: Concerned department engineer has filed case in rural police station against the person who dug the asphalted Periyapade-Arasolige road of Sarapadi village, made video and shared the same on social media with derogatory comments.

AEE Tharanatha Salian of Bantwal Panchayatraj division has filed complaint against Padmanabha Sawant, who is in the video. He has dug the asphalt from the Arasolige road even before the work was finished and made video of the same. In addition, he has used abusive language against the local MLA, it is alleged in the complaint.

The MLA has informed the deputy commissioner to check the quality of work carried out on the road. When the zilla panchayat engineering officers visited the spot, verbal argument ensued between two groups of people.

I have seen the video. I think Padhmanabha was right in exposing the sub standard work done by the contractors with the engineers. Matter of fact, the complaint should have been filed against the engineer for possible dereliction of duty. The way he pulled out the asphalt with his bare hand itself shows that how long the asphalt will last. Many lives have lost in Mangalore due to bad roads. Padmanabha should form a public watchdog group and expose all the bad road works. People should support him. Unless and until there is an accountability, the sub standard road work will continue costing many more lives.

Just by the picture before reading the news article I thought he is from minority community and digging the road to destroy it. But after reading news article I came to know he easily removed the road asphalt by is bare hands. This shows the quality of material used and no traffic lines, signs, side walk and drains and sloppy work. 40% commission is jumping out from the roads.

There is nothing wrong if a concerned citizen brings to light the quality of work executed by a private contractor which the Public Works Ministry contracts to Tird Parties, based on whatever merit or availability of the tendered price. Many road works jobs be it concrete, asphalt or drainage, most are of substandard quality and finishing. Engineering is of the poorest quality. Water collects on these roads in the rainy season, and the Public Works Ministry people in charge pay a blind eye to all these incompetence and poor work quality. MLAs are useless people with no education or no technical understanding, just the greed of being in power, like all politicians in India. They dont walk on roads or check themselves on finished roads and drainage systems. People have every right to voice their concern on malpractices and poor quality public civil works. In the end one must understand the waste of public funds and the inconvenience people of the area have to bear with as a result of poor engineering and poor quality of civil works by unqualified and inexperienced so called contractors often favoured by the Municipality and the Public Works Ministry, One can see all these so called contractors hanging around these two offices all the time to connect and get jobs only on influence and corruption basis.

This is open truth that public is forced to digest every year.... Easiest money to grab for contractors and politicians is municipal/village roads and petty projects that come under purview of the local bodies.... I am witnessing the shady top coat patchwork done in Udupi roads.... person should not have used bad language... but his efforts are in the right direction....
