Kasargod: Customs official seize Rs 1.25 crore worth gold, arrest 2 at Kannur airport

Kasargod, Feb 12: In an operation conducted by the customs officials at the Kannur international airport, two people were arrested and gold that was brought illegally from overseas amounting to Rs 1.25 crore was seized.

When the customs officials checked the baggage of Mohammed Mustafa, resident of Periya, who had arrived from Abu Dhabi, they found 690 gram of gold hidden inside a micro oven and 59 gram of gold concealed in a powder tin.

The total value of these is Rs 43,20,500 as per customs officials.

In another case, the customs officials found 1548 gram of gold hidden in microoven in the baggage of Abdul Hakeem, resident of Nadapur, who also arrived from Abu Dhabi. The value of the confiscated gold from Hakeem is said to be Rs 84,24,000.
