Mangaluru, Feb 12: The Founder’s Day celebration of Srinivas University was held at Valachil campus on Tuesday February 12.
Addressing the gathering, zonal commissioner, city corporation Surathkal Vani V Alva said, “This is a ver special day where an institution starts its journey. It is the time to reflect the changes which had led to success and where the institution stands today. It is a day where the students of past, present and future come together and take a vow for the upliftment of the institution.”
In his presidential remarks, chancellor of Srinivas University Dr CA A Raghavendra Rao said, “It is a pleasure to see students receiving awards for their achievements. It is like laying foundation for your future which is in your hands. We have also set up a centre for excellence so that it will help the students where they get trained, go out of the institution and work independently.”
A Shama Rao Foundation has recognised the contribution of teachers at high school and PU college levels in the undivided Dakshina Kannada district. This year, the foundation selected Prathim Kumar K S (Physical Education Teacher, Shree Bharathi Group of Institutions, Nanthoor) for A Shama Rao Memorial Outstanding Teacher Award 2022-23 for his contribution to the field of education in the undivided Dakshina Kannada district.
Manohar S Shetty, chairman and managing director of Sai Radha Group was chosen for A Shama Rao Memorial Outstanding Achievement Award 2022-23 for his contribution to the field of education, employment, social and community services.
Srinivas Group also recognised key achievers in the field of social service. This year, Murali Kadekar (Karyadarshi, Yakshagana Kalaranga Udupi) was selected for A Shama Rao Memorial Award 2021-22 for their outstanding service in the field of social service.
Students from the Srinivas Group of Colleges who achieved rankings were awarded gold medals. Faculty members who had their PhDs completed in the previous year, had publications in other countries or had been awarded patents were felicitated.
Trustee member A Vijayalaxmi R Rao, Vijayalakshmi R Rao, A Mithra S Rao, Padmini Kumar, Meghana S Rao, vice chancellor Dr PS Aithal and others were present.
Pro chancellor Srinivas University Dr A Srinivas Rao welcomed the gathering, Dr Ambika Mallya, and Dr Padmavathi Prabhu compered the event, and registrar of evaluation Dr Srinivas Mayya rendered the vote of thanks.
