Udupi, Feb 15: “Examine all the rules for a floating restaurant and lodging facility at Kaup as a tourist attraction and issue the approval,” said deputy commissioner Kurma Rao M to the tourism department officials.

He was speaking at the deputy commissioner’s auditorium, Rajatadri after presiding over the tourism progress committee meeting today.

“A proposal for payment of requisite fees to construct a floating restaurant and a lodging facility at Hinneer, Uliar grama, Kaup has been submitted,” he said.

Expressing his displeasure for not recording the number of tourist arrivals in the district, he directed the officials to register the details of tourists arriving in the district every month through the contractors who have obtained contracts for the maintenance of tourist spots.

He directed officials also to provide facilities for ease of obtaining necessary no objection letters from the department of police, CRZ and local bodies by creating more alertness and awareness.

He directed the officials to issue permits for conducting para motoring adventure sports after scrutinising the registration of safety and permission letters.

He also directed officials to inspect the implementation of fisheries project at Trasi, Maravanthe and Kaup beaches. “Those who have obtained contracts for maintenance of tourist spots should follow the conditions on the contracts to avoid inconvenience to tourists. He said a workshop about eco tourism should be conducted at Varanga, Hebri taluk. Besides, a circle circuit should be built from Padubidri sea shore to Padukere sea shore and a cycle track from Kundapur Kodi beach to Kodi Deltapoint after inviting the organisations to the district while taking necessary measures”, he said.

“Upload the details, pictures and videos of tourists’ spots on the tourism department website. Print pamphlets of the tourist spots and distribute them to the tourism organisations,” he told the officials.

First build adequate infrastructure around the beach and modern touristic facilities. Do something different here as there are beaches in Padubidri and Malpe in close range.
