Kundapur, Feb 20: “The BJP does not speak about development. Its main agenda is religion and caste. Lies are the main weapons of the BJP. The state government is completely dipped in corruption and it is glorifying the same,” said leader of opposition in legislative council B K Hariprasad.

Hariprasad spoke after inaugurating the Congress Karavali Prajadhawni convention at Vandse on Sunday February 19.

Hariprasad further said, “The BJP members glorify corruption to such an extent that they celebrate victory when their party members come out of jail from case of corruption. The state government, instead of seeing things equally, is going against the constitution. Today what the BJP preaches is not patriotism but devotion of jealousy.

“When election nears, PM Modi, Amit Shah, Nadda and all other leaders visit coastal region. However, when there is sea erosion, floods and destruction due to rains, they do not even pay attention. People have to understand this. Today, 40% commission accusation is widespread in the state. Contractors’ association wrote an appeal in this regard to PM Modi a year and half ago and still awaiting reply. This gives room for suspicion.

“If the Congress comes to power, it will address the issues of commoners. The Congress has stressed health, education and fundamental structure in its election manifesto. The wealth of Independent India should be distributed equally. The wealth of the country should not divided within only 10 people,” he said.

MLC Manjunath Bhandary said, “The aim of Prajadhawani Yatra is to understand the issues of commoners and find solution for the same at state level. IT park in coastal area, garments’ park, Rs 10 lac insurance for accidental death during fishing, 25% subsidy for traditional boats, subsidized kerosene and diesel distribution and Rs one lac interest free loan for fisherwomen will be done.”

KPCC spokesperson Sudhir Kumar Muroli said, “BJP MLA of Byndoor has failed in carrying on the power that was given by the earlier Congress regime. He has not held a single Akrama-Sakrama meeting in the last five years. Now the BJP is announcing new things. What is the reason behind this? Why did the local MLA not speak when lessons on Narayana Guru was removed from the school text books and banks that were formed in this part of the state were merged? Keeping commoners out of his office is the achievement of the MLA of Byndoor.”

Former MLA Gopal Poojary said, “The BJP MLA, who won by lying to the public about Paresh Mesta case, tried to shut the case of BJP activist Udaya Ganiga, who was murdered by gram panchayat president of his own party. Why the government which gives Rs 25 lac compensation to a victim’s family in various murder cases, did not give justice to the death of their own party worker?

“During election time, they speak about joining five rivers. What happened to the airport, medical college and engineering college? The Byndoor government hospital could not be upgraded to 100 bed hospital. Only two Akrama Sakrama meetings were held in the last five years. How many people have received title deeds under 94C? There is no water at Yedthere. When Byndoor bus station was to be constructed, the BJP said that it is a pond which is used by birds to drink water. Later, their own MLA laid the foundation stone for the bus stand at the same spot. Like this, several projects were approved during my tenure. The BJP members do not want to work. They are engrossed in misleading people. I have represented the constituency four times. Now they are doing false propaganda that I do not have money and people. It is true that I do not have money. I will win the election without money. People will tally the developments and vote for me. In Byndoor, the BJP there are more than 12 aspirants for the MLA’s post. But in Congress, there is only one candidate. Now they have begun the slogan of Congress is the only way. It is true their assurances are limited only for announcements and not implemented.”

Former minister Vinay Kumar Sorake, leaders M A Gafoor, Raju Poojary, Raghurama Shetty, Prakashchandra Shetty, Prasanna Kumar Shetty, Sampigedi Sanjeeva Shetty, Vandaballi Jayarama Shetty, Vasudeva Yadiyala, Madan Kumar, Roshan Shetty, Hariprasad Shetty, Ananta Mowadi, Udaya Poojary and Santhosh Shetty were present.

Many people joined Congress during the convention. Vandse block president Pradeep Kumar Shetty welcomed the gathering. Vandse gram panchayat president Udaya Kumar Shetty rendered vote of thanks. Suneetha Shetty compered the programme.
