19-year-old Pakistani woman arrested in Bengaluru sent back

Bengaluru, Feb 21 (IANS): A Pakistani national who crossed the border and married an Indian she was in love with here, has been sent back, police said on Tuesday.

Investigations had revealed that 19-year-old Ikra Jivani has no suspicious or criminal background. She had crossed over only to marry her lover Mulayam Singh Yadav.

On January 23, she was arrested along with her husband by the Bellandur police. Ikra, a resident of Hyderabad in Pakistan, got introduced to Yadav through online game Ludo. They fell in love and decided to get married.

Ikra went to Kathmandu in Nepal without informing her parents. She had sneaked into India through the Birgunj border in Bihar.

The two had reached Bengaluru on September 28, 2022 and settled in a rented house in Junnasandra near Sarjapur Road. Yadav had got her Aadhaar card done in the name of 'Rava Yadav' and also applied for the passport.

The central investigating agencies tracked her parents in Pakistan and informed the local police. The police team had arrested Ikra and Mulayam Singh Yadav and produced them before the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO).

Authorities confirmed that Ikra has been sent back to Pakistan through the Attari-Wagah border.

As per sources, the probe showed that both Ikra and Mulayam do not have criminal or suspicious background.

The probe was carried by local police and central agencies. The two were in a relationship for four years, before the girl decided to cross over and live with him.

When the authorities started preparing to deport her to Pakistan, Ikra refused to go back.

Police sources revealed that she pleaded with the authorities not to deport her. The young woman claimed that since she had married an Indian, she should be allowed to stay back here with him.

The authorities had approached the Pakistan government in this regard and the process took about two months, the sources added.

Those who were protesting against CAA, could have come forward and accommodated her. I wonder what the reason behind their dead silence is? Yadava nee baa Yadukula nandana? Ikra did not follow the mantra...2 nation theory and hence? Hypocrisy....exemplified.

If they were legally married then she should be allowed to stay. We all know and agree that Pakistan is a pariah country. So if that is the case, then why do we have to also behave like them. When they see how noble we are, (unlike them) then let them hang their heads in shame.

I was an advocate of let her live her life peacefully. However, if you look at the civil service which is in charge of delivering their duties, they will not want to set a precedent for more such illegal border crossings in future. Most importantly, Pakistan can claim that India has forcefully kidnapped its citizen and indulged in forceful conversion also. True that Pakistan does that very thing with its minorities. However, with Pakistan for all practical purposes having defaulted and with its nationals fleeing either by foot or by paying a premium might use Ikra as a precedent and cross over to India. Last time such a thing happened Bangladesh was formed. Changing status quo of misery that this country represents, is not in India's interest. However, with general elections nearing, we never know, anything can happen.

Dear Sameer, Riyadh, You have a point. However, you have twisted fact to suit your tale. Adnan Sami is Indian citizen and not dual passport holder. He is a fankaar belonging to Pak Ashrafia into which Dawood has made inroads. Yes, being citizen of India, he is eligible for Padmashri award. Let us solve the D connection another day, because even the BJP Govt is not ready to make public the Vohra report. Yes, there also some Rohini or Roopa will ensure that it will never be made public. BJP defended 100% because, Adnan Sami was awarded citizen ship not by BJP, and he got the same when there was monopoly of Khans on Bollywood. Things are changing for good. Don't worry and rest in peace in Riyadh whilst you enjoy the grooving Salman and Shilpa in holy land.

Wrong decision by India. They should have considered Humanity in this case. After doing thorough back ground check, could have given her asylum if she was harmless to society. Just imagine her state back home. They will torture and may be burn her alive for what she has done. Will they accept her back ?. They are barbarians. Thinking starts and stops only in between legs. Whatever may happen to this girl, her fate, the authorities responsible for recommending to deport her will be responsible for it and will live with that for rest of their lives.

Still the Govt. could have permitted her to stay in the country on humanitarian grounds, after facing trial and punishment for illegal entry and forging documents. I'm sure this wouldn't have happened if late Mrs. Sushma Swaraj was FM today.

I don't know how people are desperate to comparing this issue with particular Foreign minister. Everyone has humanitarian ground to it. How can anyone stay illegally in a country without making to effort to formalise the citizen ship. She was taken by police and legal procedure has to take action to deport her as per Indian law. Are you above the law of this country? We have to respect judiciary and its action. No one can stay illegally, if stay also if once apprehended by the authority you have no option left. We can blame society, government, for deporting her. Humanitarian view doesn't comes under Judiciary and also not the way to justify illegal stay. . We can say one person stay illegally doesn't count much as part of number illegal residence residing in India. We know how Pakistan will treat her now and may be she will never return to India.

Humanity should have been considered in this case. On the contrary, some stupid laws without sense and sensitivity were adhered to. World is aware what will be the ill fate of this lady. Reminds one of an incident where the Princess of Dubai who wanted help was mercilessly intercepted at mid sea and handed over to the cruel security agencies of Royal family of Dubai. To this day, there is no news of her being alive. Congratulations India, for using helpless women in order to bargain for political leverage. The innocent blood of these victims are on your hands and you will reap the Karma very soon.
