Tennis legend Bjorn Borg declines KSLTA felicitation as CM Bommai walks in late

Daijiworld Media Network – Bengaluru (SS)

Bengaluru, Feb 22: Tennis legend Bjorn Borg on Tuesday, February 21, refused a felicitation organised by the Karnataka State Lawn Tennis Association due to Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai's more than 90-minute delay in his arrival for the function.

The Swedish tennis player who has won 11 grand slam titles was here to participate in the Bengaluru Open Tourney and also watch his son Leo Borg play in the tournament being held at the KSLTA.

Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai was expected to attend the programme organised by KSLTA at 9.30 am on Tuesday where India's Vijay Amruthraj and Bjorn Borg were being felicitated. The programme was rescheduled to 10.15 am due to Bommai's delay but the programme did not start even after it was 11 am.

Leo Borg's match was scheduled for 11 am and his father Bjorn Borg was seated in the gallery to watch the match. Chief Minister Bommai arrived a few minutes after the match had started.

The CM's arrival was brought to the notice of Bjorn Borg who said that he would attend the felicitation programme only after the match got over forcing the organisers to cancel the felicitation programme.

Organisers said that the chief minister had arrived late as he had other engagements prior to the felicitation programme organised by KSLTA.

This is the reason INDIAN doesn't like Western Culture. For every or at least 95% Indian this is normal because they are also like that only. I am proud to see that Tennis legend Bjorn Borg taught a lesson to Taklya.

Very well done. This is how the civilized, educated society people do. Time is very precious, which Indian politicians do not know. In India, people and the politicians think they are gods and always behave this way. This should stop. Hope people of India wake up atleast now to realize the reality..hats off to you Mr Bjorn....your action is much appreciated 👍🙏. Shame on you so called CM🤣🤣

Our politicians and movie stars thinks they are god. Our public makes them so important they forget their responsibility and do whatever shit they like to fool around people. Always treat them like a public servant and public service worker see how the behaviour will change. This fellow is a good example to show his child match is most important than facilitating unknown strangers. It doesn’t make any difference for him but yes his son match makes him important he has travelled from Sweden for this moment for his son

But public to be blamed who bow from the waist down to politicians... finally If too hard pressed for time should not commit to such engagement.. pl tell sorry much in advance .. some other note worthy could have been invited who maintains time ..

In the real world time is everything,if you can't respect someone's time it's clear you don't respect them. Some lessons are learnt the bitter way but it's the truth that these politicians consider themselves above the law and everyone else, time is the best teacher to everything and will reach a bitter lesson to this herd of politicians as well soon.

Very good decision by Bjorn Borg to turn down the felicitation, we Indians have no discipline when it comes to punctuality, that is why IST is known as Indian Stretchable Time, the CM may be a busy man, but he should schedule his appointments considering that he cannot make people wait endlessly, moreover he cannot of the genuine reason of getting stuck in traffic.

People often wonder why India is third world. The developed world understands the value of time and punctuality. Because politicians cannot punctually attend programs and functions, they (the politicians) are not invited for most functions. In India no program and function is complete without inviting a politician. With such fundamental issues, how can India dream of becoming a developed nation in the next 300 years?

Our Indian Politicians are the worst dressed, with worst behaviour and has the dubious distinction on cultureless. The primary reason for that is 90% of them are illiterate, come with hundreds of criminal convictions including rape, murder, lynching and communal hatred. So how can you expect some decency from the likes of Bomma?
