Mangaluru, Feb 23: Bishop of Mangalore Diocese Dr Peter Paul Saldanha visited St Sebastian church, Permannur on February 18 and 19.
The bishop was welcomed with garland and band by parish priest Fr Cyprian Pinto, assistant parish priest Steevan Cutinha, vice president of pastoral council Arun D’Souza and Sr Joseph Mary.
The bishop spoke to children who were to receive the sacrament of confirmation and also gave taught them on its importance. Later he offered mass. After the Mass, he visited the cemetery and prayed for the departed souls.
He also held a meeting with members of financial committee of the parish and pastoral council and exchanged ideas. Secretary of pastoral council Jyoti D’Souza read the report and gave detailed information on 21 Ayog.
The bishop had lunch with the members of pastoral council and went through the files of the parish. On the morning of February 19, the bishop offered Masses of 6 am and 8am and spoke to the parents of those who are studying in seminary. He also held meeting with members of all the organizations of the church.
Dr Peter Paul Saldanha visited rehab orphanage and met nuns of three convents and visited three sick persons. The bishop was also present for the meeting of Sacred Heart of Jesus ward, met the parish priest. He offered a Mass at 6.30 am on February 20, met the teachers of St Sebastian School and concluded his visit.
