BJP leads in Tripura, Nagaland with NDPP; NPP ahead in Meghalaya

Daijiworld Media Network - New Delhi

New Delhi, Mar 2: Counting of votes is in progress in three north-eastern states, Meghalaya, Tripura, and Nagaland. As per current figures, the BJP is set to come to power again in Tripura.

The BJP coalition has won 33 seats, the Leftist coalition 16 seats, and TIPRA has won 11 seats in Tripura. The elections were held for Tripura Vidhan Sabha on February 16, with more than 24.66 voters casting their votes out of the 28.14 lakh voters in the state. In Meghalaya, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma won the South Tura constituency with 10,090 votes, defeating his rival Bernard Marak of the BJP.

The NPP is leading in 26 out of 60 Assembly constituencies in Meghalaya and is set to retain power for a second consecutive term. However, the Chief Minister's elder brother, James Pangsang K. Sangma, and a three-time NPP MLA, was defeated by Rupa M Marak of the Trinamool Congress in the Dadenggre constituency by a narrow margin of just 18 votes. In Nagaland, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha was re-elected from the Town Bordowali seat for the second time after defeating his nearest Congress opponent Ashish Kumar Saha by a margin of 1,257 votes. Manik Saha is likely to be the Chief Minister of the second BJP government in Tripura, which first came to power in the 2018 Assembly polls.

No one can deny the fact that Congress during their tenure had taken the North Eastern states for granted taking Christians for granted .and used these States for their leader's vacations, wherein Indira, Rajiv and other leaders will go and join for a tribal dance, have a photography session and come back to the capital. CPIM in Tripura used poverty as a fertile soil for their ideologies and wanted the people to remain poor for their benefit. People in these states tasted development only after 2014 is the fact, though I do not like Feku & Co. at all....... BJP is also cashing in on the divided opposition..... Had CPIM & Tipra Motha entered into an arrangement and had avoided a triangular contest, BJP would have got only 9 seats, CPIM 27, Tipra Motha 18. & Congress 6....

Readers, the opposition have unequivocally lost the plot in the North East. Nagaland and Meghalaya are minority Christian dominated states, yet they chose to vote back BJP and it allies back to power... The road map to 2024 general election has become an easy contest, leaving behind a frustrated, sabre rattling opposition, who utilized all the " Toolkits " at their command !!!!

Even Italian PM appreciated Modiji much as a global leader. World is changing on development happening in India with supersonic speed.
