Nandgadh/Belagavi, Mar 2: Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh joined Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai along with Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi and other State ministers in ruling BJP’s Vijay Sanalp Yatra in Belagavi on Thursday.

Bommai, in his speech, attacked Congress party and said the opposition party’s efforts to woo the AHINDA community will not succeed unless they were matched by action. It is the BJP government’s bold policies that were responsible for increasing the reservation quota for SC and ST communities, he said and claimed that the BJP believes in empowerment of the dalits.

The Chief Minister said the opposition Congress was trying to find fault with BJP government for its affirmative actions and contended that the government would shortly submit a formal proposal to the Centre to include the State Government’s measures on the increase in quota benefits in the 9th Schedule of the Constitution.

He accused the Congress party of using the scheduled castes, scheduled tribes and backward classes as its vote banks without doing anything. ``The Congress party is always interested in the politics of vendetta and appeasement of minorities on the basis of religion and exploiting the weaker sections,’’ he said asserting that BJP is the only party that delivers.

State BJP President Nalin Kumar Kateel, ministers Murugesh Nirani, Govind Karjol, Shashikala Jolle and C C Patil, former minister Ramesh Jarakiholli and others were present.

The Chief Minister unveiled the statue of Shivaji and launched various developmental programmes. He also garlanded the statue of Sangolli Rayanna.
