Mangaluru: Vigilance team raids shops to check COTPA violations in city

Mangaluru, Mar 5: District vigilance team conducted an inspection of shops to find out violation of Cigarettes and other Tobacco Products Act, 2003 (COTPA) on Saturday.

Shahen General store and other shops in the vicinity around New Juma Masjid of Jokatte were fined and notices were served. An awareness was also created about the Act. In total 19 cases were registered and a fine of Rs 2,900 was collected.

The team was accompanied by Panamboor police and directed by district health officer Dr Kishore while DSO Dr Jagadish conducted the raid.

ASI B K Krishna, Pundalik Lakati, Shruti J Salian and others participated.
