Hassan: Shravanabelagola seer Sri Charukeerthi Bhattaraka passes away

Hassan, Mar 23: Sri Charukeerthi Bhattaraka Swamiji of the Shravanabelagola Jain Math passed away due to illness.

The seer was admitted to Adichunchanagiri Hospital at Bellur where he was undergoing treatment. But, the seer failed to respond to the treatment and he breathed his last.

On hearing about the seer's demise, the pontiff of Adichunchanagiri Math Nirmalanandanatha Swamiji rushed to Bellur.

Sri Charukeerthi who was called Jain Bhattaraka Swamiji had a huge following all over the country.

The seer was born on May 3, 1949 as Ratnavarma. He was 73. He was a scholar in Sanskrit and Kannada besides being erudite in Jain philosophy. He obtained his MA in History from Mysore University and MA in Philosophy from Bangalore University.
