Bengaluru: State EC alerts poll officers about likely announcement of model code of conduct

Bengaluru, Mar 24: The countdown for the Karnataka state assembly elections 2023 has begun.

The Karnataka state election commission has indicated that the announcement of the election code of conduct is expected any time. It has directed the district election officers, chief commissioner of BBMP and all DCs of the state to be ready as the election announcement may happen anytime from now.

In its publication, the state election commission said, “Elections for the state assembly of Karnataka will be held between the months of April and May. In the wake of this, the union election commission might announce the election dates anytime. So all the preparations with regard to the elections needs to be  mandatorily completed before the elections.”

The model code of conduct is also attached along with the publication, which asks the district election officers to take action immediately after dates for the elections are announced. There is a possibility that the elections might be announced on March 27 or 28 and all districts are gearing up for the same.
