Mangaluru, Apr 12: A fish net caught fire and caused a property damage worth Rs 15 lac.

The incident occurred near Rudrapade on the Someshwara sea coast. The fish nets belonged to Hemant Uchila, Santosh Uchila, Sadhana Uchila, Shekhar Someshwar, and Yogeesh Someshwar.

It is suspected that the fire was caused by miscreants.

Last March, a similar incident occurred in the same area, where two country boats and their fish nets were accidentally burnt, causing a loss of lacs of rupees.

Satish Kumpala, a BJP leader, visited the site and urged the authorities to compensate the affected fishermen promptly.
