Bantwal: Man attempts to rape sister-in-law, threatens to kill her

Bantwal, Apr 14: A man pulled the hand of his sister-in-law and tried to sexually assault her. This incident happened at Maria, Veerakamba grama, Vitla. A case in this connection has been registered at Vitla police station.

Lolakshi (37), wife of Veerakamba grama, Maira resident Vittal Poojary was the victim. Janardhana, the son of her husband’s paternal uncle is the accused.

Vittal Poojary had gone to the hills to cut grass. His wife Lolakshi had finished her work and gone to bring the grass that was cut by her husband. The accused who was waiting in a deserted place when Lolakshi was returning home, held her hand, pulled her and closed her mouth with another hand and tried to sexually assault her.

Lolakshi freed herself from his grip and raised an alarm. However, Janardhana threatened to kill her if she did not do what he wanted her to before leaving the place.

Janardhana is said to be a sex maniac. Lolakshi had already complained against him at the Vitla police station. Police had registered an FIR against him and he was later released on bail.

Janardhana continued his old habit on Thursday. Lolakshi who belonged to a poor family was mentally tensed due to harassment and mental torture meted out to her. She also complained to senior police officers and requested for justice. 

The police took Janardhana into custody and conducted an investigation.
