Nomination filing: BJP, Congress party workers scuffle in Beltangady

Beltangady, Apr 17:  Party workers of BJP and Congress got engaged in a scuffle in Santhekatte, Belthangady here on Monday, April 17 after an angry mob damaged a car that belonged to a BJP party worker.

This incident was reported after supporters of BJP candidate Harish Poonja were returning following the filing of the nomination. Congress party workers were taking a procession en route to file the nomination papers of their candidate Rakshith Shivaram.

Workers of both the parties got engaged in a scuffle as they raised slogans in favour of their parties. Later, BJP party workers protested condemning the incident. The BJP party workers also got engaged in heated discussion with the police officials demanding the arrest of Congress party workers.

BJP party workers were returning after their candidate and MLA Harish Poonja filed his nomination papers.
