Mangaluru, Apr 21: With II PUC exam results announced and SSLC examinations just getting over a week back, most of the schools and colleges are now shut for summer holidays.

KSRTC has made special arrangements for weekend tours during the summer holidays.

Special buses will go to Madikeri and Murudeshwara from Bejai KSRTC bus stand here. Date is yet to be finalised. In the Madikeri tour, the places of visit will include Raja Seat Abbi Falls, Golden temple etc. Tourists will be allowed to watch and spend time at tourist spots that fall on the way to Murudeshwara from Mangaluru.

KSRTC officials have formulated plans to take tourists to important temples of Kudroli, Kateel, Polali, Mangaladevi and beaches in the evening under the city bus tour package.

Five years ago, this tour package was operating in the city which met with a good response from the public. However, the KSRTC discontinued the service suddenly and by popular public demand it plans to restart the same although it is yet to announce the date.

During Deepavali and Dasara festivals of 2022, KSRTC had arranged tour packages and there was a good response from the public. Tourists from Mumbai, Shivamogga, Bengaluru and Sirsi also travelled in these package tours to Madikeri and temples in the Karavali region.

Rajesh Shetty, DC, KSRTC, Mangaluru division, said, “Weekend special tour packages will be organised for tourists during summer holidays. After deciding the dates, the packages will be published. Tourists can make good use of the same.”

Jayarama P G, a private organisation employee of Mangaluru said, “I travelled with my family during the last Deepavali and Dasara holiday package tours organised by the KSRTC and enjoyed them. We will be happy if the same is organised during this summer holidays as well.”

In this extreme heat wave plus heat generated by the engine, these red boxes will feel like sitting in a live furnace 😔!!

Is this summer vacation extravaganza a wise idea in view of the severe heat wave which has engulfed 90% of the country; and a more severe one expected to take the temperature in the 40s range? BTW; atleast 15 people perished & 50 hospitalized in an open air meeting in Navi Mumbai; many heatwave deaths are being reported from across the country forcing school timings to be changed and people holed up in their houses during the day due to unbearable heat 😔!!

hope the buses are maintained properly...corruption in this dept is horrible...so much so that the drivers and conductors have to give cut to the garage personnel to change tyres or do any other machine related work...i have heard this from the employees of ksrtc...even the purchase dept does lots of gafla by over invoicing, bad quality of spare parts etc.....
