In Lingayat outreach, Rahul Gandhi invokes Basavanna to slam PM Modi, BJP govt in Vijayapura

Vijayapura, Apr 24 (IANS): Hitting the campaign trail in the Lingayat-dominated North Karnataka on Sunday, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi invoked 12th century social reformer Basavanna, in his tirade against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP government in the state.

He was addressing a huge public gathering here on Sunday, in the first day of his two-day visit to the state where assembly polls are scheduled to be held on May 10.

Rahul Gandhi said that while the medieval era reformer had propounded social equality and helping the needy, the Prime Minister was befriending business tycoon Gautam Adani, who is rich and wealthy.

The Congress leader who was disqualified from Lok Sabha, and later vacated his official residence, said that he would continue to speak the truth.

"When I questioned about the Prime Minister's relationship with Adani, they erased my speech from the Lok Sabha records, but the Lok Sabha is not the only place where I can speak the truth. I can speak the truth everywhere, even here, in front of you," Rahul Gandhi said.

He also criticised the BJP government in the state over corruption issues. He said that the Prime Minister and BJP speak of Basavanna but do not practice his values.

"This government was not elected by the people. They just purchased MLAs and formed the government. But this time, they will not get the chance because Congress will win 150 seats and this 40 per cent BJP government will get only 40 seats," Rahul Gandhi said.

Stating that the previous UPA government at the Centre had prepared a caste-based survey, Rahul Gandhi challenged the Prime Minister to release its findings to the public.

Earlier, the former Congress president participated in a massive road show.

He had also paid obeisance to Basavanna at Kudala Sangama on the occasion of Basava Jayanti on Sunday.

Our nation is growing. There is a big competition in world business market. Billionaires are required in our nation too, like in West or China. If some losers have jealousy on the growth of a businessman, then what we can say? Modi as a PM he supports the business sector people like US govt supporting Elon Musk. Its there in every country. Businessmen are supported by Govt . Even in Middle East and African countries, Govt has soft corner for Indian businessmen who are expats. I think Adani has more morality than anyone in the Congress has. If still Rahul has doubts, he should go the legal way and file a case. The agencies will then audit check Adani's accounts. Going around and saying 'Adani', whenever he has mike will eventually end up in a mockery.

I am hard core supporter of BJP but the way Rahul Gandhi speaks today is really appreciable but if Rahul Gandhi fails to submit the proof then it will be fatal for his political career 🙂....but now I can say that yes India now get matured leader in opposition which is good for healthy democracy.

Lets be pragmatic guys! A year before 2019 LS elections, Rahul Gandhi was shouting Ambani, Ambani, Ambani & linked Modi's Rafale purchase with Ambani declaring 'Chwkidaar Chor hai' . Addressing HAL workers, he said about HAL being bypassed to favor of Ambani. Rafale production was ultimately successfully bypassed to favor much larger Tejas production at HAL. People in India, however, were much wiser. They understood his mind , & handed Congress one of its worst electoral defeat with less than 10% of mandatory Lok Sabha seats making Rahul Gandhi unfit to hold even the Leader of Opposition status in the parliament. On the eve of 2024 elections Rahul Gandhi, in his new Avtaar, is now shouting Adani, Adani, Adani, linking him to Modi . God forbid , Rahul meeting the same fate again.

Rahulji. Sir, India will take you seriously only when you wrest Amethi out of the hands of the Smirthi baby. Slamming the Chaiwala, and then fighting it off in safe constituency in Kerala wont get you jack!

RaGa mocked a certain community and called them 'chors'. Obviously the law took it course and penalized him. Now what 'truth ' is he speaking or will speak. PMs relation with Adani? There are pics of RaGa with Adani in the latters private jet. Pics of Robert Vadra with Adani , as well in a meeting. So he should shed light on these as well. Also he should explain why Rajasthan has allotted thousands of crores of projects to Adani? Sorry to say these rhetorics only spoil Congress prospects!
