Beltangady: Miscreants poison Somavati rivulet – Thousands of fishes found dead

Beltangady, Apr 28: Thousands of fishes were found dead in Somavati rivulet, which is the main source of drinking water of the taluk, as miscreants poured some poisonous chemical in the water on Thursday April 27.

The incident came to light when Francis, an employee, who works in the water supply unit, reported to work Thursday morning.

Francis immediately brought the matter to the notice of chief officer of panchayat and engineer and stopped pumping of water from the river.

Chief panchayat officer Nataraj filed a complaint with Beltangady police station and deputy commissioner in this regard.

Three years ago, some miscreants had put poisonous chemicals at the same spot due to which thousands of fishes died.
