Though Mangalore has connectivity with both Konkan railway and southern railway, the network and availability is very poor to other destinations towards the north or towards east coast. We do not have proper trains that starts / originates from Mangalore and always it is a nightmare to get seat on the trains which halts at mangalore due to most of the passengers travelling on long distance. Ideally, mangalore is grown and is still growing and only the city is been said as "smart", but we are lacking with lot of facilities. The very keen example of Vande bharat express plying from Trivandrum upto Kasargod only, and it would have been a boon if the train was running upto Mangalore.

It will be a great boon if extended up to Madgaon since majority from DK and Udupi travel towards north and now there are thousands working in Goa.

Congratulations, Matsyagandha Express! Though I am not a frequent train traveler, I have had the pleasure of journeying three times from Mangalore to Mumbai. I must say, those moments spent with family and loved ones were truly mesmerizing. I want to express my gratitude to all the authorities associated with Matsyagandha Express for its remarkable service over the past 25 years.

Upon commissioning of Konkan line, at least 15+ trains are plying from various parts of Kerala to Gujarat, West Bengal, Pune, Mumbai, Delhi, Goa and other parts of the country whereas there is only one train from Mangalore Central even after 25 years..... Though there are 23 stations in Karnataka under Konkan Railway, there are only 3 or 4 stations where all the train stops..... There are not even adequate MEMU / passenger trains to serve the rest 20 stations..... You see the condition of the Mangalore Junction station 25 years back and today, it is pretty much the same or even worse..... see the condition of road from Indrali to Udupi railway station..... From morning 7 am to 10 am there are buses plying between Udupi and Mangalore every 3 minutes, often driving rashly and competing with each other..... Not a single passenger train to cater the daily commuters needs..... All these are happening because your elected representatives are doing nothing obviously, for their palms being greased by the bus lobby..... Celebrations are always welcome, but open your eyes and ears to the reality
