Dharwad (Kundagol), May 2: The Congress party’s election manifesto released in Bengaluru on Tuesday ‘is nothing but distillation of the ruling BJP’s programmes’, criticised Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai and termed it as ‘a fraud on the people’.

Participating in BJP’s election campaign in Kundagol in Dharwad district on Tuesday, he said he has a nostalgic connect with Kundagol as his father late S R Bommai had released 30,000 acres of land and the people remained loyal to him. “I have toured in Kundagol, Kamadolli, Samshi, and Gudageri with my father,’’ he said.

Bommai claimed that BJP is focussing on nationalism, patriotism and security of the country and seeking votes on development while Congress is colluding with anti-national forces and is divisive and lacks in development.

The Chief Minister said the Congress manifesto talks about its guarantee of Anna Bhagya for distributing 10 kg or rice and mentioned that the Narendra Modi government had already started distributing 10 kgs of foodgrains after the Covid pandemic. The Congress people are distributing the Modi rice in gunny bags with their own photos.

All these guarantees are useless after May 10, he argued.

Bommai also claimed that the ruling BJP has already announced free bus travel for women and now Congress has given it a different name.

“They promise to complete Kalasa Banduri Nala project in 5 years but we have already started the tender process,’’ he said.
