Mangaluru, May 5: “One among the BJP's double engine will be sent for scrap this state election and another one in 2024,” said former chief minister and Congress leader Veerappa Moily.

Addressing media here on Thursday May 4, Veerappa Moily said, “One engine cannot not function in the state and hence a double engine has been installed here. There will be no issue in implementing the six guarantees announced by the Congress ahead of the elections. The BJP have put the country and state in debt and also busy merging and privatising everything. Modi has conducted 20 meetings so far which indicates fear of losing.

“Modi and Amit Shah are behaving like dictators in the country. During the last election, Modi alleged the Congress of being involved in 10% corruption. Now the BJP government is surrounded by 40% corruption allegations. The roots of democracy have weakened under the BJP government. The BJP are destroying independent organisations and controlling the Supreme Court and security agencies.

“The Congress will gain majority in the state while the BJP will not gain more than 30 seats,” he said.

Keeping aside political affiliations and being pragmatic. Something Congress has to learn from BJP is to be a 'cadre ' based party and not a 'leader ' based party. Thats how a party grows from strength to strength ,with a sound futuristic vision. Moily, J Poojary and many others old hags have been given numerous chances despite serial defeats . In the process, youngsters have never been groomed to take over the reins and build the party. On the other hand other parties do not this, if you cannot win or perform you are asked to step aside to make way for someone capable. For example see Mangalore North and even Bantwal, its the same candidates , same opponents , so what can you expect?? Same result! Ideally an youngster should have been given a chance . Anyways.

What's the use of telling him about Kadri Park? He's tadipar to Chikkaballapur, least bothered about Mangalore. Because of him and DVS our Nathravati river is running dry today. He promised water to Chikkaballapur but till today not a chembu of water has reached there.
