Beltangady: Mentally ill individual ignites fire near national highway

Beltangady, May 7: A fire erupted unexpectedly along the roadside near TB Cross of Ujire on the Mangalore-Villupuram national highway recntly.

Dry grass spanning an area of approximately 50 meters was engulfed in flames, resulting in damage to some trees. It is believed that a mentally deranged person was responsible for igniting the fire.

Fire service personnel, along with forest department officials and local residents, promptly brought the fire under control.

The proximity of residential houses and shops to the site of the fire caused initial concern. Additionally, the presence of plastic and other waste in the area posed challenges for the firefighters in extinguishing the blaze.
