Sullia, May 19: Naveen Rai Menala (48), former member of Jalsoor zilla panchayat and Ajjavara gram panchayat, fell into Kallina Tadiyadka rivulet and died on Thursday March 18.
Naveen Rai’s residence is in Menala and he has an agricultural farm by the side of the house. A pump was installed to draw water from Payaswini river which flows on the other side of his house. Naveen Rai used to visit the place often.
On Thursday, Naveen Rai parked his bike near Girijashankar Tudiyadka and went near the pump in Payaswini river to remove dirt accumulated on the foot valve. He accidentally slipped and fell into the river.
Naveen was in the forefront not only in politics but in social and religious matters also. He is survived by wife and two daughters.
