Mangaluru, May 22: Police Commissioner Kuldeep Jain has suspended Special Branch Constable Vasudev Chauhan, who was assigned to Ullal police station.

Under the leadership of ACP Dhanya Nayak, the police team recently apprehended a gang involved in gambling at the Talapady border. Allegations arose suggesting that Vasudev had prior knowledge of the operation and had colluded with the accused. Acting on concrete information about the gambling den, ACP Dhanya Nayak conducted a raid in Tachani, Talapady border.

During the raid, the main accused, a member of Talapady Gram Panchayat, managed to escape. However, the Ullal police later apprehended the suspects. It was discovered that constable Vasudev had provided advance information to the suspects and collaborated with them.

ACP Dhanya Nayak promptly reported the matter to the police commissioner, who subsequently suspended Vasudev while keeping the investigations ongoing.
