Puttur, Jun 6: A couple belonging to the nomadic tribe left their two children, including a-month-old baby in a house. A case is filed against the couple in Uppinangady police station. The children are handed over to Ramakrishna Ashram of Puttur.

The couple, who used to frequent the Karaya area of the taluk, had won the faith of locals. Both were addicted to alcohol and used to sleep wherever they got a place to rest and were living an unorganized life.

The couple has a four-year-old son and the girl baby is just a-month-old. The couple left the children at the house of Fatima, resident of Karaya and said that they are going to Wenlock hospital. However, they did not return.

Fatima got scared as the couple did not turn up even after two days and brought the matter to the notice of officials of women and children welfare department.
