Bantwal, Jun 16: RSS leader Dr Prabhakar Bhat Kalladka expressed his dissatisfaction with the Congress government's decision to repeal the anti-conversion act, which was introduced by the previous government to prevent fraud, greed, and forced conversions.
Addressing reporters at BC Road on Friday, June 16, Dr Bhat stated that the previous government's Anti-conversion Act provided no room for fraud, coercion, or forced conversions. It allowed for voluntary conversions by applying to the deputy commissioner and providing a valid reason. The Act also emphasized that conversions should not be carried out in secret and included legal provisions for the process. Dr Bhat questioned the current government's decision to repeal the prohibition of religious conversion Act, suggesting that it was done to please certain individuals. He added that it is common for governments to make changes when a new administration takes over, but the approach in this case is questionable.
Dr Bhat highlighted that forced conversions were prevalent not only in urban areas but also in rural communities. He emphasized that Hindu society is open-minded and accepting of various beliefs and practices. However, he stated that actions should not involve breaking families apart or causing emotional distress.
