Mangaluru, Jul 6: Ullal police have arrested a youth on charges of begging for help to run a fair (jathre). Police suspected that the youth identified as Rajesh is running Thokkuttu Catering Organisation indulged in beggary to run the fair.

Rajesh, who was saffron clad, had reportedly pleaded with Thokkottu Kapikad Raj Caterers to donate generously and help him run the fair. The head of the catering firm suspected the accused's intentions of begging for money and therefore he made an inquiry with the accused in the night. When the accused did not give a satisfactory reply he is said to have initially disclosed that he is Muthappa from Hyderabad and also revealed in Kannada that 30 others were collecting money in the same manner in the city.

The accused neither possessed a mobile phone handset nor an identity card to buttress his claim which prompted the head of the catering firm to get the Ullal police to the spot.
