Bantwal: Death of woman due to landslide – DC announces compensation

Bantwal, Jul 7: Deputy commissioner (DC) of Dakshina Kannada Mullai Mugilan said that Rs five lac compensation will be given to the family of Zareena, who died on Friday morning July 7 as the hill near her house collapsed. He also announced compensation of Rs 1.2 lac for the family to repair their house.

DC Mugilan visited the spot of incident at Nandavara of Sajipamunnuru. The DC also instructed the taluk officials to prevent such mishaps.

Tahsildar S V Koodalagi, taluk panchayat executive officer Rajanna, PDO Laxman and other department officials were present.

The mishap occurred at around 6 am on Friday as the hill besides the house of Mohammed collapsed at Nandavara Gumpu killing his wife Zareena. His daughter Safa was rescued from the rubble. The house was partially damaged in the incident.
