Mumbai, Aug 10 (IANS): The Mumbai Police have registered a case against Raj Surve, son of Shiv Sena MLA Prakash Surve and others for kidnapping and assaulting a businessman.
The victim, Rajkumar Singh, is a CEO of a Mumbai-based music company. He was kidnapped from his Goregaon East office at gunpoint.
The incident reportedly occurred on Wednesday, and CCTV footage of the act surfaced online.
According to reports, a group of 10 to 15 people stormed the Global Music Junction office and abducted the CEO.
The CCTV footage, which is now available online, shows the culprits abusing the staff and taking one person with them.
Further investigation uncovered that Singh was kidnapped in front of his staff and taken to Surve's Dahisar office, where he was coerced into signing a blank stamp paper.
Alerted by Singh's staff and relatives, the police were able to rescue him.
Rajkumar Singh's statement reveals that he was pressured at gunpoint to settle a business loan given to Manoj Mishra of Patna.
Rajkumar was taken to MLA Prakash Surve’s office in Dahisar, where the MLA’s son, Raj Surve, and his men threatened him at gunpoint to settle the matter and not to speak about the same to anyone.
The incident reportedly revolves around a loan of Rs 8 crore provided to the owner of YouTube channel Adishakti Films. The owner has been accused of not repaying the money, leading to the unsettling incident.
A total of 10 accused have been booked in the case, including Raj Surve, Manoj Mishra, and Vikky Shetty, although no arrests have been made as of yet.
Raj Surve and seven others have been charged under sections 364-A, 452, 143, 147, 149, 323, 504, and 506 of the IPC, as well as sections 3 and 25 of the Arms Act.
The matter is still under investigation.
