Udupi: School Kits worth Rs 40 lac distributed to 6,730 govt school students by Adani Foundation

Udupi, Aug 22: Adani Group’s Adani Power Limited, which is operating power plant at Yellur village, Udupi district, in hands with its CSR wing Adani Foundation distributed school kits worth Rs 40 lac to 6,730 students studying in 78 government / government aided schools located in the UPCL plant vicinity.

Distributing the education kits comprising of note books, geometry box, bag and umbrella, Kishore Alva, president & executive director of Adani Group, informed that UPCL, after taking over by Adani Group, Adani Foundation is distributing quality school kits worth Rs 40 to 50 ac every year to the government / government aided school students in Kaup taluk for the last 8 years. “Education kits would be a kind of motivation to the students and I am happy to note the increasing trend in students’ strength in few of the Government Schools,” said Alva.

Alva further said that Adani Foundation is playing a vital role in the field of education involving activities like education kits distribution, scholarship distribution to the meritorious students, education help for the meritorious students from the financially weaker section, distribution of laptop to the students for higher education, development of infrastructure facilities to the government schools, construction of toilets for girl students. He further said that Adani CSR is working for the promotion of education to the students in rural areas.

Alva also informed that every year nearly 20% of the total CSR budget is being spent towards education.
