Beltangady: Elephant menace continues at Kadirudyavara, crops destroyed

Beltangady, Sep 22: A herd of wild elephants entered farm land at Panikallu of Kadirudyavara in the taluk on Wednesday night and destroyed crops.

More than 20 arecanut trees in the farm land belonging to Raghavendra Bhat Patavardhan were uprooted by the pachyderms. The house inmates came to know about the elephants entering their farm land. With the help of locals, they drove out the elephants and prevented more damage.

Last week too, a herd of elephants destroyed 55 arecanut trees and three coconut trees of the same farm land belonging to Bhat.
