Kundapur, Sep 29: In a disturbing incident, a man shot at 20 cattle that entered his land, resulting in the death of four and severe injuries to 15 others. This ongoing conflict has been taking place for the past month in Angadi Jeddu, located in Bellala village under the jurisdiction of the Kollur police station.

On September 23, a cow owned by a local resident named Gulabi wandered into a field belonging to Narasimha. Outraged by this intrusion, Narasimha shot to shoot down the cow in the field with his country gun.

When Gulabi learned of the incident and went to inquire, Narasimha aimed his gun at Gulabi and his family, proudly stating that he had already killed more than 20 cattle, resulting in the death of four. He went on to threaten that he would do the same to the remaining cows if they strayed into his field and warned that Gulabi's family would meet a similar fate.

Gulabi filed a complaint with the Kollur police station, leading to the registration of a case.

I see some intellects who are commenting & invoking gau rakshaks, VHP and BD. When you have police department catching hold of vehicles and cattle but humans escape time in and time out, there is some sanity prevailing because of these gau rakshaks and they are doing a commendable job without being paid. Problem is not cow slaughter, but it is thieving with connivance of law enforcement. Stop robbery simple and straight. No, it is not political issue, but it is police falling short of doing its duty. I have the same opinion about drug problem in Mangalore - I wish VHP and BD also intervened here to keep our society safe from drugs.

The so called protectors of gau matha are all big hypocrites. Just because the guy who shot the cows is a hindu, everyone is quiet. This is unbelievable! I just cannot imagine the situation just in case it was Sattar, Arif, Ibrahim or Qasim instead of Narasimha.

In my childhood days, I had to constantly drive away cattle by throwing stone. They destroy everything that we grow with all hard work. We have to protect our crops from insects, birds and wild beasts and to add these cattle from the irresponsible owners join in destroying our livelihood. Only the people who experienced this type of problem knows how painful it is to see someone's cattle comes to your field and destroys everything. If wild animals like elephants comes and destroy, you can lodge a complaint with forest officials and they would take care of that. There is no owners for those wild elephants and hence if you complaint no will hold any grudge on you but if you complaint to police the owners of these cattle will be your enemies forever. I am not defending this Nara-Simha, he shouldn't have shot them, but why no one talks about the cattle owner here? If you have to feed your cattle with somebody else's hard work, do you have the right to own a cattle? You make sure your cattle is within your property.

Hi Shankar, I agree with your point. He should not have killed cows .But when it comes to destroying crops done by hard work and it's his daily bread then human will loose control. The owner also responsible for her mistake leaving cows.Even on roads many cows roaming and disturbing the traffic .and accidents..sometimes people lost life due to stray cows and dogs.

There is absolutely no excuse for killing the cows. He could have sorted this out in other ways. The fact that he threatened to do the same to that lady is unacceptable. I hope he spends a good time in jail to think about his actions.

Both are I find not normal.First of all one shouldnt make cattle responsible and shoot at them .They simply see good fodder to graze and enter. He could have shoo out and call owner to look after and not let in others garden .She too should have been a responsible to see they dont enter others garden .She questions also him why he shot?Instead of say sorry and take out them.Of course he shouldnt kill cattle. Now he should pay compansation for loss of cattle. She lost a good amount of money through this.

This is sheer Zoosadism. Guns are provided for sports, self defence or crop protection. Killing cattles can not be a sport. Cattles need not be shot at for self-defence as they do not harm anyone. Also no crops are seen in the photo to claim crop protection. This kind of psychopaths should be punished. On the other hand, the owner of cattles could have been more careful by not allowing the cattles to venture into the neigbours' area, knowing the fact that the conflict has been ongoing since long.

Police might want to withdraw the license (assuming it is legal weapon) to this irresponsible Narasimha who has demonstrated amply that he is incapable of handling lethal weapons, thanks to his unwitting Narasimha-avatara. Gulabi on her part also, needs to be sensitive to others' crop/ownership of land. Cow is sacred, but if you convert it into pest for others' it will be treated so. However, there are other methods that Narasimha could have employed rather than shooting Gulabi's cattle and almost showed the intent to shoot Gulabi also.
