I'm Moving to Hollywood: Don Omar

New York, Aug 30 (IANS/EFE): Singer Don Omar said that 2011 has been the best year of his career so far and, judging by his work agenda, next year will unfold along the same lines given that he plans to move to Hollywood to fulfill several work commitments.

In addition, the reggaeton star will be the spokesman of an educational campaign directed at young people in New York City, he told EFE.

"I'm moving to Hollywood in 2012," the Puerto Rican singer announced, although he added that he didn't know if he would adapt to the local lifestyle.

"I don't go out a lot or go to discotheques. I'm more reserved. It's not that I don't like to go, it's that I don't have much fun going to a club and there it's sort of obligatory. I go, but for just a little while," said Don Omar, on whose 2012 agenda is starring in the sixth installment of the "Fast & Furious" saga.

He and fellow reggaeton performer Tego Calderon starred in the third and fifth films in the series.

Don Omar, a car racing aficionado who has a race car driver's license from the National Hot Rod Association, also intends to star in a reality show about racing, about which he said he has spoken with ESPN.

"In Hollywood, I'm going to have the chance to begin to work on the project with ESPN, which is a super opportunity because I love ... automobiles," he said.

Fans of the singer will also see him next year in the role of spokesman for a campaign on condom use targeted at young people, an effort designed to prevent sexually transmitted diseases.
