Mangaluru: MCCQ Charitable Trust distributes annual scholarships to deserving students

Mangaluru, Dec 3: In a commendable initiative, the MCCQ Charitable Trust, an endeavor by Mangalore Cricket Club (MCC) Doha Qatar, presented the 6th annual scholarships to deserving students from Mangalore and Udupi diocese. The ceremony took place at the Padua College auditorium on Sunday, December 3, where a total of 22 students received scholarships amounting to Rs 3 lac.

Addressing the audience, PRO Mangalore diocese, Roy Castelino, reflected on the 31-year journey of the Mangalore Cricket Club, emphasizing its role in bringing people together and conducting various social programs and services. He urged students to pursue education beyond graduation, even considering post-graduation or PhD, to secure jobs with competitive salaries and work towards achieving meaningful life goals.

Fr Anthony Shera, director of the Catholic Education Board, lauded MCCQ for its benevolent gesture in assisting deserving students, irrespective of caste or religion. He encouraged the recipients to pay it forward by helping others in the future, embodying a spirit of kindness towards the needy.

Fredrick D Souza, former Vice President of MCC Qatar, provided insights into the journey of MCC Qatar and MCCQ Charitable Trust. He highlighted that since 2018, the trust has distributed scholarships worth Rs 10 lac, benefiting an average of 20-25 students annually.

The event witnessed the presence of principal Padua College, Fr Arun Lobo, and Bonaventure D'Souza from Jewels Mangaluru. Richard D'Souza, advisor MCC Qatar, expressed gratitude in the vote of thanks. Ronald Rodrigues efficiently compered the event, welcoming and guiding the gathering throughout.
