Daijiworld Media Network – Bellary (SP)

Bellary, Sep 8: A gang of robbers raided the house of a family that was located away from other houses in the outskirts of Veniveerapura village in the taluk on the night of Tuesday September 6. They beat up a woman and took away eight lac rupees in cash apart from 750 grams of gold ornaments.

The house belongs to Venkateshappa. He was sleeping on the terrace. The gang covered him in a blanket before bringing him down and dumping him in a room. They also confined his son and daughter-in-law to that room before proceeding with robbery. As Sanjeevamma, wife of Venkateshappa, resisted, she was mercilessly beaten up. To ensure that cries for help do not reach nearby houses, the robbers had switched the mixer on immediately after barging into the house, the family members said.

After forcing open the steel almirahs, the robbers ran away with their booty. Reportedly, the gang members were conversing in Kannada. Sanjeevamma was admitted into VIMS Hospital Bellary for treatment.
