Mumbai, Sep 28: The city witnessed its first-of-a-kind event titled 'Adoptathon', which is an initiative taken by District president Lioness Rajni Shetty and clubs of district 323 A2 alongwith with NGO – 'World for all', was held recently at Bandra Hindu Association hall.
In this event, Mumbaikars from all over came forward to adopt pups and kittens.
The event was inaugurated by PMJF Ln Ashok Mehta, former international president and former sheriff of Mumbai.
Celebeiries like Anaida, Raveena Tandon, Tanisha Chatterjee, Sohail khan, Varun Khandelwal, Richa Cheda, VJ kashyap, Arpit came and Sohail khan adopted the 100th pup. Tanisha too adopted 2 dogs. A total of 105 pups and kittens were adopted.
Also there were many such other unique events like 'Takavu Tun Tikavu" which means "Best Out of Waste" was organized by Mahila Bachat Ghat, wherein ladies from chawls and poor background were taught to save even minimum amout like Rs 5 per day and learn savings for future. The Ladies had come from far places like Thane to participate in 'Best out of Waste' and also a dance competition.
Janet D'Souza who is an active Congress worker who also runs Little Flower school and junior college, is actively involved with these activities through NGO Ciline D'silva Mahila Mandal, in the name of her deceased mother who was also actively involved. Active memebers like Sunita Mali, Smitha Khatu organized the event.
Also there was dance competition youngsters of Leo club of Vidyavihar, where Ladies of Lioness clubs even some are in older age, as crowd cheered them for their performance. Lioness district also inaugurated a new club in remote village of Murud Jangira almost 200 kms away from Mumbai near Alibag where they distributed clothes and books, bat and bal to adivisi chilren also felicitated some teachers, who have got some Gaurav puraskar award from Government.
District governor Ln Hasmukh Jobanputra, LL Hema, Ls Kawal Rekhi, Ln Seema Pai, Ln Anil Goradia were present.
