Karkala, Mar 14: In a near-fatal accident near Kariyakallu on NH 169 involving a car and a two-wheeler, the rider miraculously escaped death.

The incident occurred when a car traveling at high speed from Bajagoli to Karkala lost control and collided with the two-wheeler. The rider was thrown onto the car's windshield, sustaining a head injury. The car came to a halt after its tires became stuck in mud placed on the roadside for repair work. Fortunately, a signboard just ahead prevented a potentially fatal outcome.

The two-wheeler sustained severe damage in the collision, prompting a response from Karkala city police station personnel who rushed to the scene. The injured rider was promptly transported to the hospital for treatment.

Reckless and irresponsible driving and riding behaviour is the root cause of these accident. This road stretch is a accident prone zone and the entire road is dug for four laning work. How this stupid driver of the vehicle was driving at high speed. He should be made to cough out his back side.

Reckless driving and overspeeding are two of the biggest causes of accidents. Unless the driving licenses are suspended temporarily or permanently there is no recourse.

when we live in a third world country...these are natural...corruption and lawlessness are common....licences are issued without conducting tests....there is no method of withholding or suspending licences...everything is only in books...

Let's put some myths to rest: corruption and lawlessness happen even in a first-world country, albeit at a much higher level. What's stopping anyone from overspeeding or driving recklessly even after passing the mandated driving test? Morals and ethics have nothing to do with academics. Punishment should fit the crime in all instances.
