Mangaluru, Mar 24: A university-level workshop on entrepreneurship development titled ‘Ignite Your Inner Fire’ was hosted by the ED forum of St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru on March 23 at the Avila Hall, aiming to inspire participants to tap into their creative potential and promote innovation in their lives through interactive sessions, group discussions, hands- on exercises, artistic and brainstorming activities.
It featured a plethora of activities, each with a different and informed purpose, which began appropriately with the invocation of god’s blessings through a divine hymn sung by Sannidhi and Nidhi, while the session was compered by Michelle D’Souza, the secretary of the ED forum.
The welcome address was delivered by Dr Devi Prabha Alva, the staff convenor of the ED Forum, who also overlooked the smooth functioning of the workshop.
The vote of thanks was proposed by Carol. The resource person of the workshop was Mita Menezes, internationally certified psychologist, therapist, coach and a facilitator alongside being an Alumna of St Agnes College. She is the founder of turtle balance, a center for psychotherapy, coaching and counselling.
Her address evidently exhibited her joy of returning to her Alma Mater, she communicated her aim of inculcating self-discovery, idea development and actionable insights inside her participants. She was accompanied by her husband, Rohan Fernandes, a family business entrepreneur, who supported and assisted her in conducting her activities throughout the session.
The chief guest was Sr Dr M Venissa AC, the principal of St Agnes College. She addressed the audience with great enthusiasm to never forget the creativity within them and mentioned “Don’t go just as you have come to St Agnes” with Mita as her example in mind, she expressed how hopeful she was for the emotional, personal and professional growth of her students.
The icebreaker activities included that of group making and teamwork which set a positive and inclusive tone, encouraging the participants to communicate and share their passions.
Practical tools and techniques, like brainstorming methods and visual storytelling techniques were also used to overcome creative blocks and generate innovative ideas.
Mita created an atmosphere of collaboration and networking opportunities which enticed the idea sharing and partnership among the participants. Her experience, knowledge and skill in her art were all put on display during her interactions with the students.
She instilled the spirit of participation, decorum and mutual respect among those who attended and participated in the activities. Overall, the workshop was a resounding success in empowering participants to recognize their creative sides and approach challenges with fresh perspectives.
