Udupi, Apr 10: Udupi-Chikkamagaluru Congress candidate K Jayaprakash Hegde emphasized the importance of assessing candidates based on their past developmental efforts while urging voters in the Udupi-Chikkamagaluru Lok Sabha constituency to make informed decisions during the upcoming elections.

Highlighting the significance of evaluating candidates' track records, Hegde stressed the need for voters to consider the developmental initiatives undertaken by the contenders. He emphasized the pivotal role of development in fostering progress at both the local and national levels.

Replying to the opposition's accusations of financial hardship due to the guarantee, Hegde stated, "The opposition parties raised their voice initially and now have surrendered to silence. Because of this, guarantee schemes are successful. As much as Rs 11 lac crore of rich people has gone to the BJP which shouts that it will go bankrupt if it gives guarantees to the poor. There is no one raising a voice for loan waiver. It is this kind of massive waiver that really bankrupts you. So people should keep these points in mind while voting."

Furthermore, Hegde criticized the intertwining of religion and politics, advocating for a separation between the two domains. He emphasized the intrinsic patriotism within every citizen and discouraged exploiting religious sentiments for political gain.

Echoing Hegde's sentiments, Sandesh Kini highlighted the need for political integrity and refraining from using religion as a tool for garnering support. Satish Kini, Udupi district Congress general secretary, echoed confidence in Hegde's candidacy, citing the positive reception received from constituents and attributing it to the hard work of party members and the candidate's accomplishments.
