Dubai, Oct 16: Brahmashree Narayan Guru’s 157th birth anniversary was celebrated like every year by Billawas Dubai and Northern Emirates at Elite English Speaking School, Deira on Friday October 14 as ‘Guru Puja’ attended by large number of devotees.

The Puja formalities started around 9 AM with welcome and lighting the lamp by President Jitendra Suvarna followed by Bhajan Sankeertana by Raja Rajeshwari Bhajan Team and Sree Guru Bhajana Mandali.

Puja Committee, headed by Satish Ullal, Suvarna Satish and their team have carried out their job efficiently in arranging this Puja. The Mantap was beautifully decorated, welcome at door by ladies wing with ‘flower, tilaka and panaka’ , compiling various Bhajan Teams, water, food etc. all perfectly done.

Both Bhajan teams rendered devotional bhajans melodiously one by one praising the Lord and continued with Abhang Bhajans with ‘Kolata’ Nritya and ‘Deepa Nritya’ with true devotion.

Community leaders from various communities arrived and witnessed the Puja which included Sarvotham Shetty, President of UAE Bunts, Ganesh Rai, Ex-President of Karnataka Sangha Sharjah, Ravi B. Shettigar, President of Padmashali UAE, Bala Salian, Vice President of Mogaveers UAE, Sudhakar Alva of Bunts Dubai, Madhav Hejmadi from Billawa Balaga, Representatives from Devadiga Sangha, Amchigele UAE, Kodagu and Dakshina Kannada Gowda Sangha and many more devotees from various communities.

Jitendra Suvarna, President of Billawas Dubai and Northern Emirates, welcomed all the guests and devotees. He briefed about Brahmashree Narayan Guru and his teachings to mankind about ‘One Cast, One Religion and One God’ a slogan on unity among people which changed the society at large. He added, BDNE always follows Guru’s philosophy especially with much importance on education field supporting fellow community’s poorest of the poor back home with scholarship facilities.

At around 1.30 was Maha Mangalaarati and Purohit who was specially invited and who arrived all the way from Mumbai performed the Puja formalities in true devotion and explaining each and every aspect on the importance of this Puja.

A life-size sculpture has been newly created by Ganesh Rai and erected on the stage beautifully with flower and deepa along side the main stage which was also decorated nicely with flower and fruits. Ganesh Rai was honoured and felicitated for his work and support not only to Billawas but also to other communities. He was felicitated with shawl, flower and fruits by President, Jitendra Suvarna along with Mohan Attavar and Umesh Kuckian Ex-Presidents of BDNE. The proceedings were carried out by Shodhan Prasad, continued with ‘Blood Donation Appreciation Certificate’ to BDNE received from the Authorities of Blood Donation Centre, Govt. of Dubai, handing over to President Jitendra Suvarna, in appreciation of the Blood Donation Campaign held recently at Al Wasl Hospital. The donor’s cards were also distributed later to the respective donors.

Both Bhajan Teams were called upon and honoured with flower and fruits for their contribution to the Puja event. The Raja Rajeshwari Team lead by Satish Ullal had Rajesh Kuthar, Raghu Jathan, Vishwanath, Kiran, Venkatesh, Ramanand Belapu, Ramanand Shetty, Ranjith, Rajesh Belapu, Anil Kumar, Monappa, Sunil Kumar, B.M. Dinesh, Ravi Shankar, Master Prateek, Yogesh Salian, Jesh Bayar, Prashant Nair, Chandrika Vaman, Charisma Vaman, Chitraa Prassana, Deepa Jaganath, Jasmitha, Jayashree, Latha, Saarika, Samantha, Sangeeta, Neeta, Shubha, Suma, Suvarna, Usha Ganesh, Usha Shetty, Jayalaxmi, Prapti, Amisha and Rakshita. The Guru Bhajana Mandali comprising of Anand Salian, Usha Anand, Dinesh, Kiran, Radhakrishna, Mohan, Dayanand, Anuradha and Narayan Puthran.

Mahaprasada distribution was held around 2.30 PM with delicious vegetable buffet lunch provided by Satish Pujary and his Team from Shiv Saagar Restaurant.
