Mangaluru, Jun 9: A minor girl of Nepalese origin hanged herself in a rented house at Thokkottu, Chembugudde, on Saturday, June 8.

The deceased, Rabeena B K (16), was the daughter of Ram Sharan, a Nepalese man who runs a fast food canteen near Vrindavan Hotel in Thokkottu.

Ram Sharan lived in a rented house owned by Rita D’Souza at Chembugudde, Thokkottu, with his wife and four children. Rabeena was the second daughter of Ram Sharan. She was studying in the eighth grade in Nepal and was brought to Mangaluru by her father to continue her studies. However, Rabeena wanted to pursue her education in Nepal and frequently quarreled with her parents over this matter.

On the afternoon of Saturday, Rameela, Rabeena’s mother, had gone to school to bring her younger children home. When she returned, she found Rabeena hanging in the bathroom from an iron rod using her shawl.

The Ullal police conducted the post-mortem and handed over the mortal remains to the family.
